PARAPRAXIS

4th January 2025 (London, UK)

Danny Valentine and the Meditations have announced the release of their new album “Parapraxis,” a set of twelve songs that reveal hidden meaning and truths against a canvas of brass and percussion-infused avant-garde independent rock. “Parapraxis,” launched into the world at 1200 GMT on 7th February 2025 is the first new release by Danny Valentine and the Meditations since 2019 and represents a dynamic shift to a more complete band sound.

PARAPRAXIS – an unintended action that reveals something hidden in your unconscious mind

Digging deep into their collective subconscious, the mix of multi-gender voices tell tall tales of hallucinogenic nights on the tiles (Halo of Ink), deep diving into the darkness of the mind surrounded by strange creatures (Numb), and profound calls to arms from the realms of isolation (Homine Domine). The album also reveals more intimate and direct themes, such as My Kingdom and In the Night, a Dancer, where light is shone on tender moments facing mortality or reflecting on the intensity of a past love diminished.

“Parapraxis” is released on an extremely limited gold vinyl edition and on all digital streaming platforms on 7th February 2025.

Danny Valentine and the Meditations are underground indie survivors. Formed in South London in 2006, they have been a commonplace feature in independent music venues across the capital and south east England. Latterly, they have been in hiding, working on their latest album, “Parapraxis,” appearing occasionally to perform in Europe and elsewhere. Having sometimes extended to 13 members, they have settled on a core membership featuring main protaganists DHR Gibbs (vocals, guitar, synths), Dan Hydes (drums), Philip Dawson (bass), Lisa Moore (vocals, omnichord), Jimmy Bracher (guitar), Dan Darriba Esq (congas), Andre Canniere (trumpet) and Kirsten Neil (vocals, guitar). Members have also occupied themselves working with diverse artists such as Lene Lovich, Moloko, Faust and Gobsausage. Dark denizens of the burgeoning music  scene developing around RMS Studios in SW London, Danny Valentine and the Meditations will be announcing tour dates later this year.
